New Novel Short-Listed for Prize

Excited to learn that my new biographical novel The Night Doctor of Richmond is again on the short list for a literary prize. The Faulkner Society, based in New Orleans, sponsors an annual William Faulkner – William Wisdom award that includes a cash prize and a medal, along with travel expenses to the society’s literary festival at the end of September. This year nearly 200 novels were entered in the contest.

My first novel The Coal Tower, also was short-listed for this prize back in 2018. If you may be interested in entering next year's competition, here's the website.

Last fall, you may recall, The Night Doctor of Richmond was among the top four entries in the James River Writers’ best new unpublished novel contest, the eventual winner being Alexis Stratton’s novel Burn. This contest is held every three years. Here's info.

Fingers crossed for this year's Faulkner-Wisdom prize!
